This marks the third year that Nite Lites alone will sponsor Winter Wonderland. We are pleased to have Winter Wonderland run the three weekends as well as December 22nd and 23rd, before Christmas. Winter Wonderland has had in attendance 45,000 patrons walk through the event center. In the past they have walked through rows of theme decorated live potted trees having various business and service groups decorated and silently auctioned the trees, items of value (gift certificates, coupons of service , and items(books, crafts, and collectables), raising much needed awareness and funds for the charitable community.
Unfortunately, our venue of the live potted trees has to be discontinued due to lack of the right equipment availability. As an alternative, we will be offering an 8’ by 8’ space for you to create a Christmas scene. You can use items from your own Christmas pasts or purchase them new. These items can be electrified, motorized BUT I NEED TO EMPHASIZE NO LIVE OR LIVING ITEMS WILL BE ALLOWED, and only batting snow can be used and reused for following years. The items used in your display will not be auctioned, unless you list them to be. Only gift certificates, coupons, or donated in the box items can be added for the silent auction. They must be listed and a value put to them. In the past the most successful groups for raising money for their charities have been those that have canvased for and received dinner certificates, percentages off services, or tickets to activities, and collectable memorabilia.
The Holiday Decorating Contest has brought a fun and competitive way of raising much needed funds for the many community charities and has raised approximately $37,000 for local charities and service groups.
When attending Winter Wonderland one can participate in making a holiday craft on the first two weekends courtesy of Home Depot, view a live holiday themed puppet show, take a ride on Santa’s Express, visit Santa at his North Pole Castle, games from family friendly” Rail Time Adventures” and on the select nights listed on our Website, pet one of Santa’s reindeer. These activities are included in your admission of the Nite Lite light show, except for the price of playing or riding the amusement activities.
*Dates and Hours: Winter Wonderland will be open for 11 nights before Christmas this year, from 6-9pm at the Event Center at the Jackson Fair Grounds. Dates will begin on Friday December 5th thru Sunday December 7th, Friday December 12th thru Sunday December 14th and Friday December 19h thru Tuesday December 23rd. On the closing night the highest bidders of the displays will be contacted and given specifics on how to purchase and pick up their items. Clean up for your displays can take place on the 26th. Monies will be held for your charity until clean- up has taken place.
*Charity Donation: Each charity will keep the proceeds money order for the amount raised as well as the added amount if you placed first or second.
*Contest Fee: The fee of $60 is asked for each space and since there are 10 limited spaces this year it will be on a first come basis.
* Contest Rules: You can decorate your 8’x8’space at the event center during specific “ Decorating Times”, Monday December 2nd from 12pm. to 6pm and Tuesday December 3th from 10am- 4pm. You can come at any time stated to decorate. All spaces must be completely decorated by Tuesday December 3rd by 4pm. A list of the items that will be silently auctioned should be provided, and again I state nothing live should be in your scene. Blanketed snow can only be used (Batting), but I emphasis this can be used again. Your space will be fenced off so no one should enter once completed. Electricity will be provided. Spaces will only have the front viewing for your planning.
Participants will be given a space in the order I receive their application. *IMPORTANT: * It is the responsibility of the registrant and the charity chosen (if not one in the same) to spread the word and help to get the people to come and support your charity by making donations and bidding in the silent auction during event nights. Without personally promoting it, you may not make as much for your charity as you hope. So spread the word!!!!!
To participate, just fill out the registration form and send it to the address on the form with your payment. REMEMBER ONLY 10 SPACES WILL BE PROVIDED THIS YEAR. So please reserve your spot.
